On the 61st Trade Day, Our Company Received the 5 Million Dollar Export Tower Award, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award, and the Prime Minister’s Award

On December 5th, the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the 61st Trade Day ceremony at COEX, Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, with around 1,000 attendees including trade contributors, government officials, and heads of related organizations.

Trade Day is a legally designated commemorative day established to promote balanced trade development and the nation’s commitment to trade. It was originally established as “Export Day” on November 30, 1964, to commemorate the achievement of $100 million in exports, and was renamed “Trade Day” in 1990.

Since December 5, 2011, when South Korea became the ninth country in the world to achieve $1 trillion in trade volume, the date of Trade Day was changed to December 5th to commemorate this milestone.

In his opening remarks, Yoon Jin-sik, Chairman of KITA, emphasized, “The shift in the trade paradigm, with weakened international cooperation and the spread of protectionism, poses both challenges and new opportunities for us.”

During the ceremony, awards were presented to 1,545 companies receiving Export Tower Awards and 597 individuals recognized for their contributions to trade promotion with industrial medals, decorations, commendations, and 80 commendations from the Korea International Trade Association chairman.

Among the companies receiving the 5 Million Dollar Export Tower Award were 175 companies, including Lim Kyung-mi, CEO of HMC Co., Ltd.
