Gyeonggi Province held the "2024 Gyeonggi Province Exporters’ Day" event on the afternoon of the 10th at the Ramada Plaza Suwon Hotel. During the event, export companies and related organizations that contributed to the regional community's development through increased exports were recognized with awards and Export Frontier Company certificates.

The Export Merit Award was presented to 15 individuals for their contributions to export, 5 individuals for their use of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), and 2 individuals from overseas marketing agencies, totaling 22 awardees.

In addition, 79 companies that started exporting for the first time between July 2021 and June this year, with outstanding performance, were designated as ‘Export Frontier Companies’ and received their certification.

Among the Export Frontier Companies, five companies with the best export performance in their respective fields — including Information Technology (IT), consumer goods, beauty, machinery and parts, and medical/bio — were selected as ‘Export Rookies’ and awarded certificates and trophies. One of them, Ronda Korea Co., Ltd., a semiconductor specialist founded in 2019, was recognized for its exceptional performance in the global market.

Export Frontier Companies are given 3 additional points when applying for various overseas marketing support programs from Gyeonggi Province, while Export Rookies receive 5 additional points. The certification is valid for 3 years.

Ronda Korea Co., Ltd., which was recognized as the Export Rookie, is a semiconductor company established in 2019. It has expanded its domestic market share and strengthened its overseas sales, establishing a technical support network in response to growing demand from countries like China, the USA, Taiwan, and Singapore. The company recorded over $62.91 million in exports from 2021 to the present.

Additionally, 55 individuals from companies and related organizations who have contributed to the regional economy through exports were awarded various honors, including the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award (3 recipients), the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award (5 recipients), the Director of Gyeonggi SME Agency Award (10 recipients), KOTRA President’s Award (5 recipients), the President of the Small and Medium Business Corporation Award (5 recipients), and others.

Park Geun-gyun, Director of the Gyeonggi Provincial International Cooperation Bureau, commented, “As global trade conditions change significantly and protectionism and ‘America First’ policies gain traction, we will actively support businesses by diversifying export markets to mitigate uncertainties.”

The event was attended by key figures including Lee Jae-young, Chairperson of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly’s Future Science Cooperation Committee, Park Geun-gyun, Director of Gyeonggi Provincial International Cooperation Bureau, Jo Hee-soo, Director of the Gyeonggi SME Agency, and Kang Seong-ho, Chairman of the Gyeonggi Exporters Association.
